Graduates throw their caps in the air at Hilliard Middle-Senior High School May 27. The 87 graduates were led by valedictorian Kaleb Hair and salutatorian Emily Starling.The class flower is the white lily and the class color is maroon. The class motto is “You have brains in your head.

Fish Talk: Amazing swamp day

Oh boy, God really came through again. I had another amazing day fishing Saturday with another great friend who God blessed me with.  It was my boss’ son, Michael Murray. He invited me to go fishing with him at the Okefenokee swamp. Yes, with all the alligators.

CIS students rock out

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   “I’m gonna have some fun. I’m gonna play my drum,” sang Les DeMerle, founder and artistic director of the Amelia Island Jazz Festival. He performed for Callahan Intermediate Schools fifth graders April 7. He also showed them simple rhythms and drumming techniques.

Callahan Boy Scout Troop 351 welcomes Elijah Skidmore, Emmet Bolton, EJ Strine, Luke Wilson and Nolan Depontes May 19at Callahan Methodist Church. The scouts completed the requirements to earn the rank of Arrow of Light and crossed over from Cub Scout Pack 351.

Loyal Flash retires

MIKE THORN NCR Reporter   Hilda Loyd, 84, retired May 15 after serving at Hilliard Middle-Senior High School since 1984.  Through the span of four decades, she served in various capacities, including career coach and cheerleading coach.
