Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   The Fernandina Beach Pirates struck down the Hilliard Flashes Aug. 22. The Flashes lost 49-6 with senior Camauri Bolden scoring the team’s only touchdown in a kickoff return.

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   A southern delicacy found a permanent home in Callahan.  Krackers Boiled Peanuts started nearly four years ago by Tiffany and Levi Holton under a little yellow tent with two 30-quart pots of boiled peanuts.

13-year-old cyberbully faces two felony charges

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   A 13-year-old Yulee Middle School student was arrested Aug. 19 with charges stemming from a cyberbullying investigation.

Volunteers unleash animal control concerns

Ashley Chandler For the Record   The Nassau County Commission chambers were overflowing Aug. 25 with residents fired up about animal care. The discussion at Monday’s meeting already was underway in the weeks prior on social media.

Cup overflows to provide aid

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   For more than 30 years, the First Baptist Church of Gray Gables has quietly served the community through its ministry known as “The Cup.
A lightning strike caused a wildfire near the Nassau River Aug. 13. The fire was 100% controlled by Friday morning. A second fire occurred in Bryceville Thursday and its cause is still under investigation. It burned an acre of private property and reportedly did not cause any major damage. For the Record   The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, in partnership with Gator Bowl Charities and Dreams Come True, signed 12 dreamers to the 2025 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Dream Team presented by Momentum Transportation, including Fernandina Beach resident Everett Keller, age 9.

For the Record   A new classmate joined some Nassau County students this school year, but this student has four legs. K-9 Max, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office’s newest canine, was deployed within the Nassau County School District as part of the NCSO’s partnership with the district.

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   Stitchers from all over western Nassau County come together to create quilts from the heart. The Country Star Quilt Guild formed in 2015, sewing together community, charity, and friendship one quilt at a time for a decade.
