Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   Construction on Nassau County’s Westside Regional Park continues, with major milestones already complete and an early summer 2026 opening still on schedule.  Work on the 107.65-acre park began in January, with an expected 18-month construction timeline.

HES students lead town council meeting

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   Hilliard Elementary School fifth graders took over the Hilliard Town Council meeting Oct. 23, stepping into the shoes of local leaders for the evening. As part of Florida City Government Week, six students were elected by their classmates to lead the meeting.

Habitat fundraiser nets $80K for housing

JIM LUKSIC News-Leader   Oct. 26 was “hammer time” for First Coast Habitat for Humanity’s annual She Nailed It! fundraiser.  The community-led crusade raised $80,000 for housing programs throughout Nassau County.

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   A Hilliard home caught fire Oct. 24.  According to Nassau County Fire Chief Brady Rigdon, the blaze began around 7:49 a.m. at 28266 Lake Hampton Road. The cause of the fire was determined as stove top cooking.
