A brush fire ignited in Hilliard Nov. 22, burning 43 acres. According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, the fire started at 1:09 p.m. near U.S. 1 and Murrhee Road. The fire was under control within hours and 100% contained prior to Tuesday, according to the Florida Forest Service fire response website. Details on how the fire started were not available at press time. Heavy smoke and ash were in the air near Callie Kay’s General Store and Outfitters.
