Callahan council raises blood clot prevention awareness

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   The Callahan Town Council convened Monday night to raise awareness for preventable blood clot deaths. A declaration marked October as Emily Adkins Blood Clot Awareness Month.

Mayor Beasley reaches 25-year milestone

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   Hilliard Mayor John Beasley was honored at the Hilliard Town Council meeting Thursday night for 25 years of service to the town.

Class of ’75 holds 50th reunion

The West Nassau High School Class of 1975 held its 50th reunion Sept. 20 at 1881 Occasions in Hilliard. This was the last combined Hilliard and Callahan class to graduate from West Nassau. The district divided western Nassau into two high schools as enrollment increased.

The staff of the Nassau County Record eagerly awaits this year’s round of Spooky Story Contest entries. The contest is open to kindergarten through fifth grade students. And yes, kindergarten students have placed in the top 10 in recent years, so they truly are encouraged to enter.

County OKs $3.22 million design contract for animals

Ashley Chandler News-Leader   The Board of County Commissioners approved a $3,220,000 contract at the Sept. 17 meeting for professional design services for the upcoming Animal Resource Center and Campus. FMD Architects, Inc., doing business as Shelter Planners of America, will complete the work.

Amanda Bishop NCR Editor & Publisher   The Warriors took down the Hamilton County Trojans in a decisive manner 70-30 while celebrating homecoming Friday night.  Junior Avery Griffin led the scoring with three touchdowns while fellow junior Smo Green added two.
