Flames course through trees in Hilliard throughout the weekend. The fire was 80% contained as the Record went to press Tuesday afternoon. Community members rallied together to feed the first responders, who staged at the Stein Tompkins Sports Complex. Hilliard Little League canceled all of Saturday’s games to give the firefighters room to work and keep players out of the smoke.

The Girls on the Run club at Callahan Intermediate School crossed the finish line of their 5K goal at the University of North Florida Saturday. Third-grader Isabella Williams, 8, finished in the top 20 runners of more than 2,000 participants. The girls spent weeks practicing for the run and ran with buddies as they learned to set goals and believe in themselves. Submitted

Take Stock in Children Nassau County hosts its Light Up a Life Gala Thursday at The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island. The annual fundraiser brought in $333,000 that will provide scholarships to Nassau County students who are paired with mentors in the program. Submitted

Nassau County 4-H partners with Rockin’ G Rodeo for fundraising and awareness. Youth spent the weekend learning about the rodeo and fundraising. They also watched the show and hosted a learning center and crafts. Submitted
