YET program teaches kids emergency skills

Ashley Chandler Community Newspapers, Inc.   A local 4-H safety and emergency management course that preps kids for emergency situations is gaining attention on the national stage. The YET program was founded in 2017 by Nassau County’s 4-H program and Nassau County Emergency Management.

Nonprofit honors daughter’s legacy

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   Sherry Weiscopf founded a nonprofit organization in memory of daughter Sydney Weiscopf.   Sydney, 17, passed away in a car accident in April. Weiscopf created Surviving Your Drive to educate and raise awareness about the dangers of distracted and drunk driving.

Hilliard’s Hall hits basketball milestone

Anna Newhoff NCR Reporter   CJ Hall achieved a remarkable basketball milestone, scoring 1,500 points during his high school varsity career at Hilliard Middle-Senior High School.  “It feels good being a part of that club, ’cause not too many people can score like that,” the 18-year-old said.
