The Bryceville Branch Library hosts an egg hunt with community heroes today, 2-3 p.m. The library is located at 7280 Motes Road.

The West Nassau High School School Advisory Committee meetings are today and May 21 at 3:15 p.m. in the media canter. 

 

CMC EVENTS

 

Callahan Methodist Church invites the community to visit Stations of the Cross in the church fellowship hall Thursday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The church hosts Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Good Friday service is Friday at 7 p.m. Sunrise Easter Service is Sunday at 7 a.m. with breakfast after. 

 

VIETNAM'S VOICES

 

Vietnam’s Voices will be open to the general public Saturday with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m., continuing through until the wall is dismantled for travel Monday morning at the Northeast Florida Fairgrounds. Various private events will be held Friday, including a time for veterans and the elderly to visit. Learn more on pages A1 and B2. The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is a three-fifths scale model of the monument in Washington, D.C.

Gray Gables Kids host an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Gray Gables, 54031 Church Road, Callahan.

Brandy Branch Baptist Church hosts a Community Egg-stravaganza Saturday at Henson Park, 1753 Boyd Road, Bryceville, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It includes a free community egg hunt and hotdog lunch. Bring a chair or blanket.

Callahan Volunteer Fire Station 5 will host the Easter Bunny in the parking lot of Hagan Ace Hardware in Callahan Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a camera for pictures.

First Baptist Church Hilliard hosts an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday from 4-6 p.m. with food, games, an obstacle course and bounce house at Town Hall Park, adjacent to Town Hall.

 

RIVER CLEANUP

 

The 27th annual St. Marys River Cleanup is Saturday, 9-11 a.m. Visit www.keepnassaubeautiful.org or www.stmarysriverkeeper.org to choose from multiple sites along the St. Marys River. A volunteer appreciation luncheon is at White Oak Plantation at 11:30. Volunteers will receive lunch wristbands at posted cleanup sites.

 

SEA TURTLE FESTIVAL

 

The second annual Sea Turtle Festival is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Main Beach, 32 N. Fletcher Ave., Fernandina Beach. Come celebrate clean oceans and sea turtle conservation and enjoy music, kids’ activities, vendors and more. Free admission. Visit www.beachjunki.org/seaturtlefest.

 

DONATE TO SCOUTS

 

Donations are sought for Callahan Boy Scout Troop 351’s indoor yard sale May 2-3 at the Masonic Lodge of Callahan, 45085 Frank Brookins Drive. All proceeds support scouting adventures. To donate, email callahanbsatroop351@gmail.com or call 760-224-3294. Pickup arrangements can be made. The sale is May 2, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and May 3, 8 a.m. to noon.

 

HAZARDOUS WASTE

 

The Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event is April 26, 8 a.m. to noon at 86200 Gene Lasserre Blvd., Yulee. Nassau County residents can take hazardous household waste to the site for recycling. Examples include aerosol cans, oil, paint, propane tanks, TVs, insecticides and more. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable to donate to Barnabas.

 

FREE CLOTHING

 

Brittany’s Closet at River Road Baptist Church offers free clothing April 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the closet at the rear of the church campus, 21067 County Road 121, Hilliard.

 

BUNNY BASICS

 

Learn about the differences between domestic and wild rabbits at the Bryceville Branch Library April 30 at 3 p.m. Samantha Burns from Bebette’s Bunny Rescue will speak. All are welcome.
