Renovations are underway at the West Nassau High School football and soccer field, part of more than $1.7 million in athletic facility upgrades approved by the Nassau County School Board Feb. 27. Of that amount, $1,328,070 was awarded to AstroTurf Corporation of Dalton, Ga., to replace the natural grass with synthetic turf. The project includes removal of the existing goal posts, excavation of up to 7.5 inches of the field surface, installation of a drainage base, and placement of synthetic turf, which comes with an eight-year manufacturer warranty. Contract add-ons include a custom midfield logo and end zone lettering.
