The Nassau County School District is gearing up for the new school year with teachers returning to campus and planning underway. District officials shared the school break schedule on social media recently.
The students’ first day off class is Sept. 7 for Labor Day. They are also off Oct. 12 for Columbus Day and another three-day weekend.
Thanksgiving break will encompass the week of Nov. 23-27, with the break nine days including the weekends. A 17-day winter break begins Dec. 19, with teachers returning to the classroom Jan. 4 and students returning Jan. 5.
The district celebrates the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his accomplishments with a three-day weekend Jan. 16-18. Presidents Day is then celebrated with another three-day weekend Feb. 13-15.
A 10-day spring break 2027 is March 13-22. The students’ final school holiday is April 30, with the last three-day weekend of the school year.
The students’ last day of the 2026-27 school year is May 26, with teachers beginning summer break May 29.
