A semi-truck carrying logs overturned in the middle of Hilliard Monday morning, halting traffic and drawing an emergency response.
According to Nassau County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Robert Grant, a call came in at 10:30 a.m. about a semi and log trailer that flipped on its side. The semi-truck was turning from U.S. 1 southbound onto County Road 108 when a mechanical failure with the trailer occurred, causing the load to overturn, Grant said.
No other vehicles were involved, nor did property damage occur, and the driver was uninjured.
Nassau County Fire Rescue stations 40 and 50 responded to the scene and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection was dispatched to the scene for a possible fuel leak, but later determined there was nothing hazardous.
The logs were cleared just before noon.
