For the Record
Take Stock in Children of Nassau County helps shape the future – one student at a time. This year’s deadline to apply to become a scholar is Nov. 15.
Through one-on-one mentoring, the program provides middle and high school students with the encouragement, guidance, and accountability they need to graduate high school and pursue college or technical education. Every dollar invested in the program stays within Nassau County – and scholarship donations are matched 100% by the State of Florida, doubling the donation impact.
TSIC Nassau County invites community members to get involved in two powerful ways:
• Become a mentor: Just 30 minutes a week can change a student’s life. Mentors are especially needed in western Nassau.
• Support the mission: Join TSIC Nassau as a sponsor or donor, including at the annual Light Up a Life Gala, which helps fund college scholarships for deserving students.
Students in seventh through ninth grade who are financially eligible, have at least a 2.5 GPA, and maintain good conduct in school are encouraged to apply to become Take Stock scholars. Upon successful completion of high school and the program, these scholars receive a scholarship valued at $25,000.
“I believe deeply in the power of this program,” shares Alexis Holton, executive director. “When our community gives – whether time, talent, or treasure – we’re not just helping a student; we’re investing in the future of Nassau County.”
