A home in the Plummer Creek neighborhood was destroyed by a fire Thursday night.
A Nassau County Fire Rescue incident report states the fire started at 7:20 p.m. in the garage of Toni and Jason Rogers’ home at 78702 Goldfinch Lane, Yulee.
When first responders arrived on scene, the fire was venting through the garage and progressing through the attic space.
The homeowners and their dog Pixie were inside the home at the time of the fire and were able to exit safely. The fire was cleared at 9:45 p.m.
According to the incident report, the cause of the structure fire could not be determined during the preliminary fire investigation. During the follow-up investigation by the state fire marshal, a possible electrical source was found along the roof and wall of the garage.
The fire destroyed several garage contents, including a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro street drag car, a 2023 Polaris RZR PRO R, a 5-gallon canister of race fuel, empty race fuel jugs, and a container of used oil. The homeowners estimated a loss of about $150,000 in garage contents.
No other property was damaged by the fire.

A brush fire also caught spark in Fernandina Beach Saturday, causing residents to evacuate their homes.
According to the NCFR incident report, firefighters responded to a report of a yard fire that burned into the adjacent wooded area behind a residential neighborhood. The fire started at 12:49 p.m. at 97170 Harbor Concourse Circle. The wind drove the fire over 15 miles per hour from the southeast. The fire was confined by NCFR and the Florida Forest Service tractor units at 4:06 p.m. Nearly 7 acres were burned by the brush fire.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office asked residents of Keel Court to evacuate due to the fire.
