Callahan’s newest restaurant serves up homestyle comfort food for the community.
The idea of Gracie’s Kountry Kitchen came to life in October and officially opened its doors Dec. 29, offering an all-American lunch menu.
The restaurant is owned by Heather Hagan, a Callahan resident and local business owner. Along with Gracie’s Kountry Kitchen, Hagan also owns Top Hat Billiards Pool Hall – which she plans to open up again in April – and The Lunch Box food truck.
She is also a business partner with the Hicken Power Drag Strip and has plans to open more businesses in the near future.
“I’ve been a business owner for many years and I tried to bring places to the area that the public would enjoy,” Hagan said.
Gracie’s Kountry Kitchen was inspired by Hagan’s mother, who taught her how to cook, have fun, and have dinner ready on time.
While the restaurant is special to Hagan due to the memories, she hopes the whole community can come to love the establishment as much as she does.
“I hope everyone has a place to come and enjoy conversations,” she said. “Everyone so far has loved the food and wants us to stay.”
The space was home to a B Mac’s Buffet until it closed in May. Hagan has added life back into the vacant space with her restaurant. She plans to add pool tables and a kids’ area for customers to enjoy while eating.
Eventually, Hagan will gift the restaurant to her head cook and good friend Anthony, helping fulfill his lifelong aspiration.
“He has always dreamed of owning his own restaurant,” she said. “Now I have the ability to see that dream come to life.”
Gracie’s Kountry Kitchen is located at 542225 U.S. 1 in Callahan and is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hagan plans to expand hours in February by adding dinner service from 4 to 9 p.m. on weekdays, along with both lunch and dinner service on Saturdays.
Gracie’s Kountry Kitchen’s daily specials are posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page, Gracie’s Kountry Kitchen.
