Nassau County Building Official Keith Ellis retired after 29 years of service to Nassau County. The Board of County Commissioners honored him Aug. 25.
Ellis began his career in the private sector, then worked for Nassau as building inspector, plans examiner, senior plans examiner, and floodplain administrator. He earned multiple licenses in building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical inspections and the state building code administrator license. He pursued 27 International Code Council certifications. In 2009, he also became a certified floodplain manager.
For nearly three decades, Ellis worked with Nassau County’s building community and local property owners, striving to ensure that projects met safety and code requirements.
He officially retired from the county Aug. 29.
