Holley commits to Lady Vikings’ lineup
Brealyn Holley quickly defends second base and is quick at shortstop, making her an asset to any softball infield. After a final season with the Lady Flashes this spring, she plans to join the roster at St. Johns River State College. She is undecided on an academic major, but leaning toward pharmacy or physical therapy.
The Hilliard resident signed her letter of intent Dec. 20, joined by parents Brenton and Julie Holley. Her family also includes siblings, Kearsten, 19, Jaden, 15, and Braydon, 12.
Holley answered a few questions for the Record during her college commitment celebration.
Why are you considering pharmacy and physical therapy as future careers?
I just like to help people out when they are in need.
Why did you choose St. Johns River State College?
I am a homebody, so I knew I didn’t want to go far from home. Also, I liked the small school size.
What do you enjoy about playing softball?
I enjoy everything about it. I like the feeling I get when I make a good play or have a good hit.
What is your favorite part about playing second base and shortstop?
I like this position because it is a very busy position, so I am always on the move and something is always happening.
What other sports or clubs have you been involved in during high school?
Volleyball and basketball. Senior Beta Club, Class Committee, National Honor Society and Chick-fil-A Leader Academy.
What is your fondest memory of high school sports?
My fondest memory of high school sports would be being able to not only play with one sister, but to play with both of them at the varsity level.
Who are your role models?
My mom because she is always there at my events, cheering me on, and she is a shining example of a kind-hearted, godly woman. She can never be replaced.
