Atwater heads to Wisconsin
Cameran Atwater will fly with the Falcons at Concordia University in Wisconsin.
He accepted a football scholarship to study sports management and signed with Concordia after West Nassau High School’s senior awards assembly May 17. He was joined by several family members, teammates and coaches.
Atwater is a defensive back and slot receiver and may see playing time as a freshman Falcon. His family is proud of his accomplishments. Family members include parents Rolanda Murphy and Dewayne Atwater and siblings Aja, Dewayne, Jhirah, Khobi, Kenyon, Mason and Lundyn.
Prior to signing his commitment letter, Atwater answered a few questions for the Record.
Why do you want to major in sports management?
Because I want to become a professional coach in the future.
Why did you choose Concordia?
Because I felt like the environment was great and that’s where I’m most needed.
What do you enjoy about football?
Building some type of relationship with my teammates and winning.
What is your favorite part about being a defensive back/slot receiver?
Making big plays, like pick sixes.
What is your fondest memory of high school sports?
Scoring two pick sixes against Terry Parker and being named player of the week.
What other sports have you been involved in during high school?
Basketball and track
Who is your role model and why?
My uncle, Frank Murphy, because he made it to the league even when he thought he could never do it. Now he’s encouraging others to grind.
