ELECTIONS
RESOLUTION NO. 2020-12
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF HILLIARD, FLORIDA, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION CALLING FOR A GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 2020; THREE MEMBERS OF THE TOWN COUNCIL FOR FOUR YEAR TERMS EACH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 8.01, Article VIII Elections of the Town Code Charter of Hilliard requires the members of the Town Council to be elected at a general election held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November; and
WHEREAS, Section 18-2, Chapter 18 Elections of the Town Code requires the Town Council to call the election for the purposes for which it is to be held at least 90 days prior to the date set for such election; and
WHEREAS, Section 18-2, Chapter 18 Elections of the Town Code requires the Town Council to set and post notice of the qualifying beginning date and ending date for the election and the location for qualifying.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Hilliard:
Section 1. Pursuant to the requirements of law, the Town Council hereby calls general election for the purpose of electing the members of the Town Council, which election shall be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The Town Clerk is authorized and directed to publish the Notice of Election as required by Section 18-2 of the Elections Code, and to conduct the election and certify the results thereof as prescribed by said Code.
Section 2. The candidates for the four-year Council terms shall qualify in one group and the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected.
Section 3. The election beginning date for qualifying is Tuesday, July 7, 2020 and the ending date for qualifying is Friday, August 7, 2020. Qualifying for office will be located at the Hilliard Town Hall, 15859 West County Road 108, Hilliard, Florida 32046.
Section 4. The persons who are elected at the general election and qualify as members of the Town Council shall take office at the first regular meeting of the Town Council held in January 2021.
Adopted this 18th day of June 2020, by the Hilliard Town Council, Hilliard, Florida.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, at a Regular meeting to be held on Monday, the 6th day of July, 2020 at 6:00 P.M., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Commission Chambers, located at the James S. Page Governmental Complex, 96135 Nassau Place, Yulee, Florida, intends to consider for adoption the following proposed ordinance:
ORDINANCE NO. 2020-
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF NASSAU COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 8 ¾ OF THE NASSAU COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES (ORDINANCE NO. 2004-46), SPECIFICALLY SECTION 8¾-10 COURT SURCHARGES; PROVIDING SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Copies of the Ordinance are available at the Clerk's Office at the Robert M. Foster Justice Center, located at 76347 Veterans Way, Yulee, Florida, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., except legal holidays.
